In February 2002 the Associacao Amazonia invited the Solar Electric Light Fund from Washington DC to come and install a solar energy system in the Xixuau Reserve. 22 solar panels were installed and provide energy for lighting in the school and in the office. The entire solar and internet project was financed by the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust of London.
