Together with the installation of Solar Energy the Associacao Amazonia embarked on an ambitious pilot project in the Amazon: a solar powered, wireless, satellite internet link up. This is the first time a system like this has been realised in the Amazon. The satellite connection was installed by Onsat from Salt Lake City and brought the reserve out of its isolation and into contact with the rest of the world. The entire solar and internet project was financed by the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust of London.
