FISHING

Here, we eat fish twice a day. For this reason everyone learns to fish. We fish from the canoe with a rod, with the espinhel, with a line, a penoaca; a currico; a spear, a harpoon, a net, or a bow and arrow.

THE ESPINHEL

is a line from which a number of hooks hang. The hooks are baited with spiders, crickets or fruit and with this method we catch a lot of pacu, arari and matrinchao.

THE CURRICO is an imitation fish tied to a long line. We catch a lot of tucunare with the currico.
